SAPP – Executive Director

Dear Coaches, Parents and Players,

I would like to take this time to thank you for being a part of Charleston United Soccer Club! Over the years CUSC has grown and subsequently has gone through many changes. St. Andrew’s first became involved with this endeavor when Charlestowne Soccer and Carolina Girls Soccer clubs needed help securing Drayton Hall School as a soccer facility. These clubs merged soon after forming Charleston United as a stand alone Soccer Club. In 2008, the Board for Charleston United Soccer Club asked St. Andrew’s Parish Parks and Playground Commission to take over the operation of their club. Soon after we agreed the CUSC Board was disbanded and St. Andrew’s has been running CUSC as it would any of it’s other programs. In 2013, we were able to hire Stephen Wakeham, who has been running the club for the past five years, as our full-time Travel Sports Director. Stephen is your point of contact for all things related to CUSC.

Our goal has been to focus on Charleston United’s longevity and sustainability by creating a St. Andrew’s Parks and Playground Program that has a very simple philosophy; coaches coach, players play and parents cheer.

St. Andrew’s Parish Parks and Playground Commission has made it their mission to create policy that is in line with these principles while allowing our youth to develop and grow in a safe and supportive environment. Our Travel Sports Director is responsible for managing and implementing this policy as well as overseeing the program and it’s direction. Charleston United Soccer Club’s purpose is to facilitate a need for affordable developmental soccer in the West Ashley community. Our mission is to Enrich Lives Through Parks, Recreation and Wellness.

Once again thank you for your support, participation and contributions to this very worthwhile endeavor!

Yours in Sports,

 Kevin Walsh, CPRP
